04 Creative thinking and design
Crafting health communications and materials that both look great and do good.

Creative thinking that designs for whole health, not just diagnosis
The Mednet advantage is in how we combine creative thinking with design discipline to build medical communications that support whole health. We use design theory to challenge assumptions, spot gaps in understanding, and turn scientific insight into creative design that feels attainable.

Where does Making Health Whole come in?
To create medical communications that resonate, we need to understand audiences deeply.
We design around lived experiences and unmet needs, supporting meaningful patient and HCP engagement through experiences that feel relevant, intuitive and trustworthy.

Empathy driven by research and insights
We put ourselves in the position of the audience, taking the time to understand their experiences, needs and perspectives before we begin designing.
Working closely with Patient Advisory Groups (PAGs) and communities, we gather meaningful feedback and bring authentic perspectives into our projects. This helps us challenge assumptions, understand what matters most to different audiences and create work that feels relevant and useful.
Our work with Yorkshire Cancer Community and Leukaemia UK shows how patient organisations can bring valuable insight directly into the creative process.

Our creative design process
Great design starts with collaboration. We bring together our creative, strategy, design and healthcare expertise to create solutions informed by different perspectives and grounded in a shared understanding.
Patient profiling is a key part of this process. By understanding who we are designing for, including their needs, behaviours, environments and potential barriers, we can make more purposeful creative decisions.
For us, it's never about designing for design's sake. Every aesthetic decision should have a purpose and contribute to a better experience or meaningful outcome.

Moving from ideation to impact
We combine service design, strategic design and design innovation in our ideation and workshop facilitation, helping commercial teams generate ideas with purpose. Bringing the right people into the process early allows us to explore opportunities collaboratively, challenge assumptions and identify ideas with the greatest potential.

Blending AI innovation with human creativity
AI is opening up new possibilities for creative production. But the most effective work combines technology with human creativity, expertise and empathy.
We use AI to enhance photography and video content we have already shot, helping us extend the value of existing assets and explore new creative possibilities. This supports our ambition to build a creative infrastructure fit for the AI era, enabling greater efficiency, speed and scale.
Used thoughtfully, AI can help us deliver broadcast-quality content within realistic budgets, while streamlining elements of the design and production process. It allows our teams to spend more time on the areas where human creativity matters most: understanding the audience, developing ideas, making creative judgements and ensuring the final work feels authentic.
For us, AI is an enabler, not a replacement for creativity. Human insight, empathy and authenticity remain at the heart of every project.
